Weekend Weather, Plus Halloween 2016 Forecast for Metro Detroit

Temperatures will near 70 for Saturday. Rain is big in the forecast. Will it affect trick-or-treating Sunday and Monday?

METRO DETROIT, MI — Yes, we know it snowed in parts of Metro Detroit earlier this week, but it was just a tease. Saturday is going to be warm if you’re planning to go to the Michigan-Michigan State rivalry game or some other outdoor activity.

But get your outdoor activities out of the way early. Rain chances are strong in the weekend forecast, but should clear in time for the kids head down for one of the biggest Halloween parties around, Royal Oak’s Spooktacular, or take part in other afternoon fun.

Monday looks dry for Halloween trick-or-treating. Here’s the outlook through Halloween:

Saturday: Mostly cloudy, with a high near 69; west wind 14 to 17 mph, with gusts as high as 24 mph. Saturday night: An 80 percent chance of thunderstorms before 8 p.m,, then a chance of rain and thunderstorms until 2 p.m., then rain and possibly a thunderstorm after 2 a.m.; low around 51; northwest wind around 5 mph becoming north-northeast after midnight. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

Sunday: 80 percent chance of rain, mainly before 2 p.m.; high near 56; north wind around 8 mph. New precipitation amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible. Sunday night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 40.
