Woman Jumps Out Of Ride-Share​ Car On Detroit Freeway: Police

The Detroit woman was not seriously injured in the incident, according to Michigan State Police.

DETROIT — A woman jumped out of a ride-share car on a Detroit freeway Sunday afternoon, according to Michigan State Police.

A ride-share driver called police and told officers that a woman jumped out of his car in the area of eastbound Interstate 96 near Interstate 94 at roughly 4:45 p.m. because she said she didn't like the route he used to take her into downtown Detroit, according to Michigan State Police.

When troopers arrived in the area, they found the 31-year-old Detroit woman who jumped out of the black vehicle that was moving in the freeway's left lane and took her to a nearby hospital, where she was listed in stable condition, according to Michigan State Police.

The woman told troopers she became anxious during the ride because she saw a Port Huron sign and thought the driver was taking her somewhere other than her destination, according to Michigan State Police.

Troopers also learned the woman was under the influence of marijuana, according to Michigan State Police.

"This woman was very lucky she wasn’t seriously hurt during this incident," First Lt. Mike Shaw said. "The investigation will be closed as unfounded and she is being turned over to her family."
