2014 3D Series

The Dexter Drama Club is presenting the 2014 Dexter Drama Directing “3D” Series, a set of seven one-act plays directed by Dexter upperclassmen and a Dexter High School Alumni. All aspects of these productions, from technical design to casting have been done by these students and the final shows are now being performed for all to enjoy. The shows run from March 7th toMarch 10th, with three one-act plays showing each night. These shows will take place at Copeland Auditorium. The shows start at 7:00 pm on March 6th, 7th, 8th and 9th; and 2:00 pm on both the 8th and 9th. So come out and enjoy the amazing shows that these students have to offer.

On Thursday (March 6th at 7:00 pm) and Saturday (March 8th at 7:00 pm) the 3D series is proud to present two original shows written by their directors. The first of the shows being Mindless, directed by alumni Jacob Dishman, is a dark comedy that explores the life of an imaginary friend after its creator has passed on. We are very proud to have Jacob back for his third time directing an original piece for the 3D series. The next show is Control Alt Delete. This is an original musical, written, composed, and directed by senior James Fischer. It is an honor to have such talent be showcased with our 3D series, and this is a night that should not be missed!

On Friday (March 7th at 7:00 pm) and Sunday (March 9th at 2:00 pm) the 3D series presents three shows, the first being Philadelphia, a short comedy set in a diner, directed by Junior Jacob Sterlitz. The second at these times is God Committee, a dramatic show directed by Junior Dimitrios Potsos; about a board in a hospital deciding which of a few of terminally ill patients receive a heart for a life saving transplant. The last show of the night will be a particularly popular piece directed by junior Grace Kreiner. She has directed the stage adaptation of the John Hughes movie, The Breakfast Club; which accounts the experiences of five high school students from different social groups in detention. This night has three very different shows, all equally worth seeing.

On Saturday (March 8th at 2:00 pm) and Sunday (March 9th at 7:00 pm) the 3D series presents two shows. The first being Higher Power directed by senior Katie Vontom and junior Isabelle Sinibaldi. The show is set in a diner, where people with special abilities gather to be judged by a higher power. The second and last show on these days is the third original production, written and directed by senior Havah Roussel. This is Havah’s second time directing, and we are proud to present her show Etta. This production is about a grandmother who decides upon getting an iPhone to connect with her teenage granddaughters; hilarity ensues. If you’re looking for a night filled with fun, but meaningful shows, this is the night for you.

The 3D series is showing at Copeland Auditorium, at 7714 Ann Arbor St. in Dexter. Tickets are just $5 and can be purchased at the door. The shows start at 7:00 PM Thursday through Saturday with 2:00 PM matinees on Saturday and Sunday.
