Fall is officially here in Dexter, and there's no shortage of ways to make the most of it. From festivals and farmers markets to pumpkin patches, live music and other seasonal fun, October brings plenty of reasons to get out and enjoy what's happening close to home.

Where: TimberTown Park and Veterans Park, 5810 and 5825 Sibley Road, Chelsea, MI
A short drive from Dexter, TimberTown Trail Fest brings a full day of outdoor fall activities to Chelsea's parks along the Border to Border Trail. Highlights include a timed 5K run and walk, 1-mile Kids Dash, outdoor yoga, storybook scavenger hunt and cornhole tournament, with several activities free to participate in. Registration is $35 for the 5K and $15 for the Kids Dash, with race proceeds supporting the Huron Waterloo Pathways Initiative and Border to Border Trail.

Where: Monument Park and downtown Dexter, 8558 Ann Arbor St., Dexter, MI
Downtown businesses get into the Halloween spirit for the Dexter Area Chamber of Commerce Trick-or-Treat, an afternoon of family-friendly trick-or-treating. Look for balloons identifying participating downtown merchants; additional businesses will set up in Monument Park to join the festivities. The event runs from noon to 4 p.m.

Shop fresh local food and handmade goods at the Dexter Farmers Market, celebrating its 20th season in 2026 at its covered downtown location. The Saturday market continues throughout October with local produce, food and crafts from area vendors. The market also accepts SNAP and PEBT benefits, along with Double Up Food Bucks and Senior Market Bucks.
When: Fridays through Sundays through Nov. 1; Fridays, 5–9 p.m.; Saturdays, 11 a.m.–9 p.m.; Sundays, 11 a.m.–7 p.m.
Where: Nixon Farms, 6175 Daly Road, Dexter, MI
Get lost in 14 acres of fall fun at the Blast Corn Maze at Nixon Farms, open every weekend through Nov. 1. General admission includes the corn maze, hayride, cow train, pedal cart races, straw maze, pumpkin patch, farm animals, corn box and other activities, with shorter maze routes available for younger visitors. October also brings special events, including Glow Maze nights on Fridays, Oct. 9, 16 and 23, when visitors can navigate the maze after dark with glow sticks; general admission is $16 for adults and $13 for children ages 5–12.

Where: Schell Family Farm, 10055 Dexter-Pinckney Road, Pinckney, MI
Less than 15 minutes from Dexter, Schell Family Farm offers plenty of ways to enjoy the fall season, including U-pick apples and pumpkins, wagon rides and other seasonal farm activities. Visitors can also find cider, donuts and other fall treats, with additional seasonal attractions and events offered throughout the farm's fall season. Because hours and U-pick availability can change with the season and crop conditions, visitors should check the farm's Facebook page for the latest dates and hours before heading out.
