Michigan Academy of Dance Company had a busy weekend at Starbound National Talent Competition in Waterford, Michigan. The dance company performed a total of fifteen dance routines in a wide range of genres including, stylized jazz, Bollywood, lyrical, contemporary modern, tap, and musical theatre. The dance company is comprised of students from Dexter, Saline, and Ann Arbor, ages ranging from ten to eighteen.
Michigan Academy of Dance Company earned Gold and High Gold awards for all of their dances. The dances performed by the studio were comprised of solos, duets, trios, and group routines. The dancers were recognized for "Amazing Intensity" by the Starbound judges, for their performance of a dance routine titled Lost in the World. Lost in the World was choreographed by Ashley Rop, an Instructor and the Dance Company Director at Michigan Academy of Dance & Music.
The Michigan Academy of Dance Company will be performing again at Kids Artistic Revue (KAR) in Walled Lake, Michigan the weekend of May 3. The dance company will be holding auditions for any children interested in performing with a dedicated group of dancers on Saturday, May 18 from 12:30pm to 3:00pm. Auditions will be held in Studio 1 at Michigan Academy of Dance & Music, 7035 Dexter-Ann Arbor Road, Dexter, MI 48130.
