senior Sarah Prielipp is a strong force both on the field and in the classroom. No stranger to high school sports, she has played for the DHS girls' varsity lacrosse team for the past two seasons, and for the girls' varsity field hockey team for the past four years.

"I love being part of a team and working with the other girls in the lacrosse program," Sarah said. "There's this great sense of pride; everyone is determined to do their best. Even if you aren't the popular one in school, with your team, you are part of a family."

Sarah has signed with the U.S. Navy and will begin basic training in July after graduating with her classmates.

"Being in the military is something I always wanted to do," she said. "I've always had the desire to serve our country and the Navy offered a lot more jobs that appeal to me than other branches of the military."

Coach Mark Erber said Sarah leads by example both on the field and in the classroom.

"Nominating Sarah as athlete of the week was an easy choice for me," he said. "She communicates clearly with her teammates and is a great asset to the lacrosse program in Dexter. Being a Navy man myself, it was nice to hear that she was considering serving our country. She will be a fine sailor."
