Chess Benefits Students

Dexter Community Education is pleased to offer a Chess Club for students in K-6.

Research shows that students that learn to play chess are better students.  The research is both scientific and anecdotal.  A study done by the University of Memphis showed that students that chess improved a child's visual memory, attention span and spatial-reasoning.  It helps children learn to plan ahead and make sound choices.  Children also become creative and critical thinkers. Dexter Community Education is pleased to offer a Chess Club for students in grades Kindergarten-sixth.  Student receive weekly instruction, handouts to take home and a T-Shirt.  Also, DCE will be hosting a series of Chess Tournaments this spring.  Call 734-424-4180 for details or visit onlinedexter.com and search chess for details.
