Local Boy Hosts Birthday Party to Benefit Underprivileged Kids
Soon to be 6 year old, Adam DeGregorio, to donate all of his birthday gifts to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Washtenaw County by hosting a "Community Celebration" in Dexter.
While most kids face the lofty decision of what theme to have at their birthday party, Adam DeGregorio of Dexter, made an even bigger one. As he plans for his 6th birthday party he made the decision to donate all of his gifts to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Washtenaw County. He asked his mom, Jennifer DeGregorio – a grant writer for the non-profit organization that matches underprivileged kids with a mentor, if he could invite all of the kids in the program to his party and let them go home with his presents. Jennifer said that he could always ask his friends to make a donation rather than giving him gifts... and that's what Adam decided to do. The family decided to hold a “Community Celebration” to benefit BBBS of Washtenaw County.
“Our cul de sac suffered terrible damages in last year’s tornado,” explained Jennifer DeGregorio. “It really affected the children in our neighborhood and I think made them appreciate all that they have. It also brought our community together in an amazing way, and we look forward to celebrating with them!”
The Community Celebration will be held at the Dexter Community Park at 3575 Ryan Dr. in Dexter on Friday, June 7th from 3pm-6pm. The entire community is invited to come out to the park where Aubree’s Pizza has
donated some of the food and the family will provide a bounce house, face painters and more. For more information go to:http://www.eventbrite.com/rss/user_list_events/49407319104
