National Ice Cream Day: A neighbor's twist on an ice cream treat.

This treat, "The Kinnard," has been modified to suit one of Michigan’s historic food products: cherries. This is a great summer snack for all ages and a nutritious or winter snack for die-hards:

Melted Mindo chocolate for dipping
Put a slab of black sweet cherry ice cream between two Graham crackers forming a sandwich. Dip one end in melted chocolate if so desired and then decide whether to eat right away, hide from the kids or put it in the freezer for easy consumption at a later date. Just remember it’s not only what you eat, but how much that counts.
