Stay cool. Stay out of the sun. Stay hydrated. Eat ice cream.
But what sort of cool mouth watering creamy smooth concoction would be good for today? The short answer is any. But if you are concerned about calories, keep the portion size in mind, typically half a cup. This is almost enough ice cream to peak my interest to eat the balance and more of what I already scooped into a container.
The sure treat for the heat is any ice cream flavor, topped with cold fresh fruit. At least the fruit has some additional nutritional value. Readily available fruit include strawberries, raspberries, peaches and blueberries. Either dish the fruit on cut up raw or marinated in a simple sugar syrup. Let the fruit marinade for an hour or two. It will add some chill to the ice cream and draw out the flavor.

My recommendation is to serve the ice cream cold. To hold it at its peak condition, let it soften in your mouth and draw the flavors from the front of the tongue pressing ever so gently on the roof of the mouth to the back of your throat.
