Dexter Boys Place First in SEC White Division Jamboree 2
The Dreadnaught varsity boys track team edged past Chelsea with 20 points Tuesday.

ADRIAN — The varsity boys track team edged past its competition to place first at the Southeast Conference White Division Jamboree No. 2 on Tuesday.
Dexter garnered 20 points, with runners taking second through eighth place and 13th place. Chelsea High School came in second place with 45 points, followed by Adrian (100 points), Tecumseh (114 points), Lincoln (129 points) and Ypsilanti (168 points).
"We went in with the mindset that this was an opportunity for the varsity guys to pack-run, take a bit off the edge and cruise it in, because we had a strong lead in our division after Jamboree 1," Dexter coach Takashi Gould said. "Although we have a few kids that are under the weather, it was great that they were able to race because our boys won't compete again until Oct. 8.

"I'm very proud of how they were able to help each other throughout the race and keep everyone close," Gould said. "We also saw many of the younger guys challenge themselves and move up in the race in comparison to how they raced at Jamboree 1. Everyone is doing a great job of consistently working hard and improving every week."

The girls cross-country team will compete at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Coaching Legends Classic in Brighton. The girls and boys teams will compete Oct. 8 at the Gazelle/Portage Cross-Country Invitational in Portage.
