As the Friends prepare for the Dexter Daze sale in August, book sale chair, Cortney Ophoff, announces, that for the first time, the sale will run for two days. It will begin on Friday, August 8, from 12 noon to 6 pm. On Saturday, August 9, the sale will run from 9 am to 3 pm, followed by a $5.00 fill-a-bag-sale from 3:15 pm until 4:30 pm. During that time, thousands of titles will be available with selections in many categories, children through adults.
Also at book sales, you can purchase a Friends library canvas book bag for $12. You may also fill it with books and pay just $15 for the bag and books combined. In addition to the bags, there are also t-shirts in youth sizes, extra small, small, medium, and large for $12.00 and adult sizes, small, medium, large, and extra-large for $15.00.

In preparation for the Dexter Daze sale, the Friends are seeking donations of books, bags (paper and plastic), and sturdy cardboard boxes such as moving boxes and standard paper boxes. All of these items can be turned in at the library’s front desk.

With the outpouring of community support, the book sales continue to be the biggest fund raiser for the Friends. Some of the most recent purchases funded by the friends are the Value Line Investment Survey annual subscription and the sponsorship of the movies for adults program. Library director, Paul McCann says to volunteers, “The consistency of income from the book sales is really a great testament to all your hard work and effort. I don't think it is common for communities of our size to see this level of involvement or fundraising from a Friends Group. Thanks for all you do!”
