Dexter Junior Varsity Football Team Opens Season with Loss
The Dexter Dreadnaughts' junior varsity football team lost 7-0 to Fowlerville on Aug. 24.

The boys' junior varsity football team lost 7-0 to Fowlervile on Aug. 24.
Coach David Teddy said turnovers and penalties proved to be the key plays of the game.
"An offensive penalty in the first half overturned a good gain on an outside sweep and contributed to a stalled drive. Three fumbles, including one on a kick return to start the second half, really hurt us as well. Our defense, however, caused a couple of turnovers late in the game to still give us a chance to pull out the win, but unfortunately, our offense couldn't convert," Teddy said.

Despite the loss, Teddy said he has a positive outlook for this year's season.
"After giving up a touchdown on the opening drive, I thought our entire defense played very well as a unit, keeping the opponent out of the end zone for the rest of the game," Teddy said. "I was proud of our kids for how hard they played. They battled hard and never gave up, and the defense gave the offense opportunities late in the game to make a play and pull out a victory.
