Dexter Men's Swim & Dive Get First Dual Meet Loss of the Season

The Dexter High School men’s swim & dive team dropped their first dual meets of the season with tough competition from Ann Arbor Pioneer on Friday, January 24 and Saline High School on Saturday, January 25. In Friday’s match, the Dreads lost 118.5 to 67.5 despite season best swims by senior co-captain Andrew Watson (50 yard freestyle and 100 yard butterfly), a first place finish in the 100 yard butterfly (Andrew Pek) and a one-two finish for Robbie Zofchak and Pek in the 100 yard backstroke.

Dexter came up short by just two points on Saturday against Saline, the division 1 defending state champions, 94-92. David Merz earned a state qualifying time in the 200 yard freestyle and swam a season best 50.09 in the 100 free for a second place finish. Zofchak repeated an easy win in the 100 yard backstroke, and Pek finished first in both the 50 yard freestyle and 100 yard butterfly.

Next up, Dexter men's swim & dive will host Tecumseh on Thursday, January 30 (6 pm Wylie pool), followed by a visit to neighboring Ann Arbor Skyline on Saturday, February 1st for a tri-meet with Monroe High School (noon).
