Dexter Planning Commission Seeks Public Comment on Master Plan Update

Residents are encouraged to attend the informal public forum on Monday at 6:30 p.m.

The Dexter Village Planning Commission is seeking feedback from the public on the village's updated draft master plan. The commission will hold a public workshop to solicit comments from residents at 6:30 p.m. Dec. 5 prior to their meeting at the .

Matt Kowalski, chairman of the commission, said the village is required by law to update its master plan every five years to reflect its changing goals and policies for future land use.

Allison Bishop, community development director, said she believes the revised document is much easier for residents to understand.

"I think people will enjoy reading it," she said. "It's a really good update."

Bishop said the commission has been working on the updated master plan since March and will have copies available for residents to review and ask questions. There will also be enlarged maps detailing future land use on display at the meeting. Residents can also submit their questions during the open forum. All questions will be addressed by the commission either at the forum or during the commission's regular meeting at 7:30 p.m.

"We incorporated a lot of the feedback we got from residents when we sent out a survey last year," Bishop said. "This is just one more way for people to have their voices heard."
