DHS Orchestra Performs Halloween Concert Oct. 28
Halloween tunes, costumes, skits and jack-o'-lanterns will all be offered by DHS students during an upcoming concert open to the public.
The Dexter High School Orchestra invites the public to a Halloween concert on Tuesday, Oct. 28 from 7-8:30 p.m. Students will dress in costume and perform music and skits. About 100 jack-o’-lanterns carved by the orchestra students will be lit and displayed at the entrance of the high school. Audience members will have the chance to buy the jack-o’-lanterns for $1 each immediately following the concert.
The music line-up includes Disney Classic songs, such as “Zip a Dee Doo Dah” and “It’s a Small World,” as well as music from Star Trek, Game of Thrones and “Let It Go” from the movie Frozen. Among other tunes, students will perform “Night On Bald Mountain” by Russian composers Modest Mussorgsky and Nikolay Rimsky-Korsakov. Night on Bald Mountain is widely associated with the Disney classic film, Fantasia, and also with the celebration of Halloween.
The concert will be held at DHS Center for Performing Arts. Cost is $5 per person, children 10 and under are free; costumes are welcome. For more information contact deloriam@dexterschools.org.
