The Dexter High School men’s swim & dive team came up against the Adrian Maples and the River Rats from Ann Arbor Huron in dual meet competition January 9-10 with the Dreadnaught victories in both meets. On Thursday, January 9th, Dexter hosted Adrian and dominated 134-46, with another top finish for co-captain diver Jake Kilian and a new state qualifying time for sophomore Jimmy Morgan (200 Individual Medley). The following night, Dexter went down the road to win over Ann Arbor Huron 100.5-85.5. The teams traded first place finishes before Dexter took the final relay to secure the win. Highlights included a 1-2-3-4 finish for Dexter in the 500 yard freestyle (Morgan, Alex Janosi, Chris Seidleck, Jack Donevan), a 1-2 finish in the 100 yard backstroke (Rob Zofchak, Andrew Pek). Ann Arbor Huron’s Will Brenner took first in the 50 yard freestyle and the 1 meter diving events, and Holden Tamblyn took first in the 200 yard and 100 yard freestyles.
Next up for Dexter swimming is a visit to Lincoln High School on Thursday, January 16th. On Saturday, January 18th, Dexter then continues the tradition of hosting its 22nd annual Freshman-Sophomore Invitational Swim & Dive meet, showcasing the future talent of teams from 9 high schools in the southeastern Michigan area.
