Dreadnaughts Pick Up Win with Split Decision
Dexter competed in a weekend double-header under clear skies.

Dexter baseball traveled to one of the state’s top teams over Easter weekend for a nonleague doubleheader. The Dreadnaughts battled hard, coming up with a split against host Orchard Lake St. Mary’s winning 11-6 and losing 8-3.
In the opener, Dexter brought out its big bats, connecting for 13 hits and scoring 11 runs to defeat the Eaglets. Individually for the Dreadnaughts, Zack Byron and Mike Mioduszewski led the attack with three hits apiece, while Justin Hart added two hits, including a home run.
Earning the win from the mound for Dexter was senior captain Ian Boyd. Picking up a save for the Dreadnaughts was sophomore Brett Garwood. Garwood made his first varsity appearance for Dexter against St. Mary’s.

“We brought Brett up from junior varsity since we had five pitchers out and two who had just thrown a couple days ago,” Dexter coach Don Little said. “He did a great job.”
In the nightcap, the Eaglets, Division 2 state champions in 2003 and state runners-up in 2009 and 2007, regrouped, belting out nine hits and plating eight runs to record the victory.
