Dexter Community Schools has shared the following:
Announcing the 2012 Orchestra Booster Scholarship Night
When? Wednesday, Jan. 25 from 3-6 p.m.
Who? Any student interested in attending a summer music camp
Where? Dexter High School Orchestra Room
Students wishing to audition should prepare a solo to play for our scholarship judge. If the student isn't currently working on solo repertoire they should play something from their orchestra folder. The judge needs to hear at least one minute of music. Students should try to select something that really showcases their abilities. We have scholarships available for every age level, so don't be discouraged if you are a younger student.
After the event winners are announced, parents should enroll their student in the music camp of their choosing. Once a student is registered, a scholarship check will be sent to the selected camp on the student's behalf. When the student comes to audition, they will be asked which camp they want to attend, so please do some research before scholarship night. We send a great deal of students to the following recommended camps:
Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp: www.bluelake.org
MASTA String Camp: www.astamichigan.org
If you wish to attend a different camp, please contact Mr. Deloria or Mr. Roth to make sure it is eligible for booster scholarship funds.
How do I get on board?
Easy. Email Mr. Deloria (deloriam@dexterschools.org) and ask to be added to the booster scholarship audition list. Mr. D. will assign times and publish a schedule on Monday Jan. 23, or sooner. If you have specific scheduling needs (must have an early or late time), please put them in the email message and we will try to accommodate you.
