Kids will have a day of winter fun at “Chillin’ at the Mills” from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 28, at Hudson Mills Metropark.
That day, kids can try snowshoeing, pull a dog sled in the klondike races, or watch the dog sledding demonstrations. They can also check out a winter campsite set up by REI, and learn some winter survival techniques by building a shelter and making a snow sculpture. Please note: Activities are subject to change, depending on weather conditions.
After trying all the activities, kids and their parents can warm up by the bonfire with hot chocolate, and make a craft to take home.
Tickets can be purchased in advance at the park office or on the day of the event for $2 per person, or pay $6.50 and get lunch, too. Junior Girl Scouts earn the Frosty Fun badge and Brownies earn the Outdoor Adventure Try-It. An event patch is available for $1.50 each.
The event is sponsored by the Girl Scouts Heart of Michigan Council, REI, Metro Parent Magazine and the Huron-Clinton Metroparks.
