Fire Destroys Dexter Township Home

A mid-morning fire destroyed a single-family residence in the 1300 block of Oak Ridge Lane in Dexter Township on Monday, officials said.

Firefighters from the Dexter Area Fire Department were dispatched to the residence at 11:07 a.m. Upon arrival, firefighter crews discovered the fully-involved fire and requested water and manpower assistance, according to Capt. Don Dettling.

Firefighters from the Chelsea Area Fire Authority, Scio Township Fire Department, Putnam Township Fire Department and the Hamburg Fire Department responded to the scene.

"The homeowners were away on vacation and a neighbor reported the fire," Dettling said.

Dettling said the cause of the fire is unknown and under investigation by the fire marshall and the Michigan State Police.

No injuries were reported. Dettling said firefighters were able to extinguish the fire by 4 p.m.
