Luck Be A Lady in Dexter
The Dexter High School Drama Club will perform "Guys and Dolls" this weekend.
Fans of the Tony Award-winning Guys and Dolls don't have to travel far to see the latest revival of the Frank Loesser musical.
The Drama Club will perform the show Thursday through Sunday at the school's performing arts center.
Guys and Dolls is based on two short stories by Damon Runyon and tells the story of New York gamblers who encounter members of the Save-a-Soul Mission who want to encourage them to quit their evil ways.

Director Erin Palmer and vocal director Julie Bassett said more than 100 students are involved in the production at DHS.
"This is a huge commitment for the students involved," Palmer said. "Rehearsals have been going on since the beginning of December and usually last for 2 1/2 hours on Monday through Thursday."

The show's directors, including choreographer Lisa Shapiro, and the many parent volunteers said during production that 12-hour days are not unusual.
DHS senior Graham Low plays the role of high-stakes gambler Sky Masterson. Low last appeared in the high school production of Anything Goes when he was a freshman, and said he wanted another chance to get back on stage before he graduated.
"I feel like I bring a fairly strong voice to the show, and I really feed off of the great cast we have this year," he said. "We have a lot of dedicated individuals in this show that have laid down a lot of their free time to make this a great production."
Other students playing lead roles include Laura Steavenson, Shelby Kasenow, Patrick Rogers, Ruby Grammatico and Taylor Petri.
Charlotte Morrill is the production stage manager in charge of the technical aspects of the show.
"I tell the light board operators when to change the lights and the sound board operators when to play certain sound effects," she said. "People can expect legitimately good high school theater with exceptional choreography and very talented student actors as well as a student-run technical crew."
Show times are 7:30 p.m. Thursday through Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday. Tickets cost $10 for adults and $8 for students and may be purchased at the door. For more information, visit http://dexterdrama.com/GuysandDolls.aspx.
