MLB Pitcher Geoff Zahn Leads Lenten Series at St. Andrew's Church in Dexter
The free weekly series will take place every Wednesday through March 28.

St. Andrew's United Church of Christ in Dexter will present a weekly Lenten series beginning Feb. 29.
Each Wednesday during Lent, an hour-long program will feature stories by former Major League Baseball pitcher Geoff Zahn.
Zahn, a parishioner at St. Andrew's, played for the Los Angeles Dodgers, Chicago Cubs, Minnesota Twins and Los Angeles Angels. He is a former University of Michigan baseball coach and pitching clinician and instructor, along with authoring several articles for MLB.com.
Zahn serves as a motivational and Christian life speaker. He will focus on five topics during the Lenten presentation, including "Can you trust the coach's rules and playbook?"; "Are we born self-centered, God-centered, or neutral? What's your world view?"; "A beatitude attitude: The result is not very attractive."; "Forgiveness and love: Want peace? Then stop the truce til you can reload."; and "Tebow and us. The question is not if God is on our side."

"This series is really about looking inwardly at our own lives and faith journey," pastor Larry Van Slambrook said. "We're focused on moving forward, but it also has to do with a person's personal journey with God."
Van Slambrook, who spoke during last year's series, said he is excited to hear Zahn's stories.
"It's a special opportunity for people in our community to join us for a fun evening," he said.
