Myint Family Chiropractic Opens in Dexter

The new office on Dan Hoey Road treats neck pain, headaches, sinus issues and other ailments.

Chiropractic patients in the Dexter area have another choice of doctors, with the arrival of Dr. Stacey Myint.

Myint, together with her husband Sean, opened Myint Family Chiropractic at 7200 Dan Hoey Road this spring.

Myint, a resident of Ypsilanti, grew up in the Pinckney area and said she is excited to open her own business in Dexter.

"My goal was always to move to the west side of Ann Arbor and Dexter seemed like the perfect fit," she said. "Dexter is such an amazing community. I want to be able to give back to this community and leave it with healthier, happier people."

Myint has been working in the chiropractic field for 12 years, the past three years as a certified doctor. She is the first to admit, however, that she didn’t always plan on becoming a chiropractor. Circumstances played a part while attending college at Concordia University to become a social worker.

"In college I had severe joint pain from playing soccer. I went to a lot of doctors and specialists, but nothing seemed to work," she explained.

Fed up and out of options, Myint decided to reach out to a local chiropractor in Ann Arbor at the request of her mother.

"After six months of treatment, the pain was gone," she said. "I saw the amazing things chiropractors can do and gained the courage to attend the Palmer College of Chiropractic in Florida."

From there, Myint got her doctorate in chiropractic, came back to Pinckney in 2002 and worked as a chiropractic assistant before launching her own practice.

β€œIt’s a great profession because you get to help people get well without drugs and surgery, which is a huge problem these days,” she said.

Myint said when it comes to health care, people are too influenced by television commercials.

β€œWe do a lot of education because they learn from TV that if you can’t sleep, take a pill. If you can’t go to the bathroom, take a pill,” she said. β€œThis is the only organized medical health care profession swimming upstream against a sea of medical dogma. The FDA, every year, approves drugs that are later pulled off the market."

Myint said she can help with a variety of medical problems, including neck pain, headaches, sinus issues, allergies, back pain, ear infections, and other childhood ailments through adjustments of the muscles and bones.

"I've seen kids who are allergic to peanuts, leave our office with no allergies after some treatments; it's pretty amazing," she said.

For those who are skeptical, Sean Myint has taken the couple's practice on the road, scheduling presentations and free consultations at local businesses in Washtenaw County.

"We're hoping to connect with the community," he said. "A lot of people grow up believing that you can cure ailments by putting toxins in your body, when in reality your body can self heal if it gets the necessary treatment to do that."

Throughout the rest of June, the company is offering gift certificates good for a free case history, examination and X-ray (if necessary) for new patients. In exchange, patients are asked to make a donation to the Dexter Tornado Relief Fund.

"Our main goal is to get people in our office to show them what good works we can do for them," Sean said. "The intent is not to become millionaires; the intent is to help as many people as we can."

To that end, the couple is planning several special events throughout the year, including a back to school drive with discounted services in exchange for school supplies. The business is also part of the Dexter Area Chamber of Commerce and is planning to partner with other agencies throughout the year.

"Our clients continue to grow from Ann Arbor every week," Stacey said. "We would like to see more patients from Dexter in the future."
