Police Blotter: Deputies Investigate String of Burglaries

Here is a look at some of the calls to the Washtenaw County Sheriff's Department this week.

BURGLARY

  • On March 2, deputies assigned to Scio Township responded to the 700 block of Lilac Avenue (South of Jackson Road) for a burglary complaint. The deputies determined the suspect or suspects opened an unlocked door to gain entry. A leather purse was reported taken.
  • On Feb. 25, deputies assigned to Scio Township responded to the 5000 block of Jackson Avenue, West of Luella Drive, for a burglary complaint. The deputies determined the suspect or suspects opened an unlocked door to gain entry. An unknown amount of cash and a laptop computer were reported taken.

STOLEN VEHICLE

On March 1, deputies assigned to Scio Township responded to the 3000 block of Jackson Road (East of Auto Mall Drive) for a stolen vehicle complaint. The deputies determined the suspect rented a 2005 GMC Box U-Haul van on Feb. 8 and had failed to return it. The suspect is believed to be known by the victim, according to police. The case is still under investigation.

WARRANT ARREST

On Feb. 26, deputies assigned to Scio Township responded to the 3000 block of Jackson Avenue for a property damage crash. The deputies contacted a suspect and determined he was wanted on an outstanding felony warrant. The suspect was arrested and taken to the county jail, according to reports.
