Saline, Tecumseh Topple Dexter Varsity Wrestling Team
The Dreadnaughts continue to show steady improvement in the 2011-2012 season.
The Dexter varsity wrestling team is still struggling to find its groove following losses to Tecumseh (62-12) and Saline (56-21) on Jan. 26.
Saline had five straight pins over Dexter in the lower weights after Dexter’s Zeke Brueninger recorded a pin at 103 pounds, according to Heritage.com.
Saline’s Taylor Ticknor (112 pounds), Adam Bruley (119), Ryan Boxeth (125), Nate O'Sullivan (130) and Dustin Funk (135) all pinned their Dexter opponents.

Dexter's standouts included Drew Barnes (160) with a pin, Shawn Chamberlain (285) won on points as well as Zeke Breuninger (103).
On Saturday, Dexter attended the Allen Park High School Invitational. Dexter defeated Erie-Mason and Carlson, but lost to Walled Lake Northern, Allen Park, and Dearborn Fordson.

"We've had some good weeks as well as weeks where we didn't compete as well as I thought we could have," Dexter coach Greg Wagner said. "Right now, we are really talking about building the intensity of our practices every day as we work toward our conference and district tournaments. I think everyone understands that we need to keep improving technically and that we need to be accountable to each other as teammates for the team to improve as much as possible."
