"What's for Dinner: Sustainable Agriculture
vs. Affordable Food"
Feb. 5 Forum at Dexter District
Library
A diverse panel of
experts will discuss the dilemma of every U.S. consumer these days: how to shop
for healthy food that supports a sustainable environment without breaking the
family budget. Sponsored by the League of Women Voters of the Ann Arbor Area
(LWV-AAA), this free, public
event will spotlight the issues behind current
headlines.
This event takes place
on Wednesday, Feb. 5, 7 p.m., at the Dexter District Library. The library
is located at 3255 Alpine St., just north of Main Street in downtown Dexter. A
well-lit parking lot is adjacent to the building.
The moderated panel
discussion will feature Amanda Edmonds, founder and executive director of the
Ypsilanti-based non-profit Growing Hope; Kali Fox, mid-Michigan regional manager
for U.S. Sen. Debbie Stabenaw; Dr. Elisa Picken who, with her husband, owns a
farm in Dundee; and Mike Schaible, a Lodi Township
farmer.
The League of Women
Voters, a nonpartisan political organization, encourages informed and active
participation in government, works to increase understanding of major public
policy issues, and influences public policy through education and
advocacy.
