• Design plans for Gaslight Village project unveiled in East Grand Rapids as lawsuit pends (mlive.com) — A major six-building redevelopment in Gaslight Village is moving forward in East Grand Rapids, with detailed designs for the first three residential buildings at 515 Lakeside Drive now before the city’s Planning Commission. Residents are simultaneously pursuing a lawsuit to force a public vote, while officials schedule a June 9 hearing and weigh concerns about traffic, parking, building scale, and neighborhood character.
   

• 15 officers complete Drug Recognition Expert School (dailypress.net) — An officer from the East Grand Rapids Department of Public Safety is now certified as a Drug Recognition Expert, strengthening local efforts to spot drug-impaired drivers. The statewide training, hosted by Michigan State Police in Lansing, put 15 officers through intensive classroom and hands-on instruction. With these additions, Michigan now has 142 certified DREs on the road.
