Owners fear customers will skip downtown visits, especially on game days, and are urging the city and lot owners to communicate better and explore relief like cheaper validations or vouchers.

2. NMU Professor Kel Sassi Brings Upper Peninsula Perspective to Statewide English Teachers Conference (nmu.edu) — English teachers from across Michigan will gather at Michigan State University's Kellogg Center in East Lansing on October 16 for a full-day conference on place-based writing and Indigenous-informed teaching. 3. MSUFCU launches nation's first credit union for people with disabilities (wilx.com) — East Lansing's MSU Federal Credit Union is launching Artichoke Credit Union, a first-of-its-kind institution designed by and for people with disabilities, with fully accessible digital banking tools. 4. Ex-MSU doctor bought overseas flight after learning of sex assault charges (bnd.com) — An ex-MSU doctor accused of sexually assaulting two patients had his bond set at $2 million in East Lansing's 54B District Court after prosecutors said he bought an overseas ticket minutes after learning of the charges. 5. New officer responds to past allegations (amisun.com) — A former East Lansing Police Department officer, Andrew Lyon, is defending his record as he starts a new job in Florida, saying his controversial 2025 pepper-spray incident and subsequent lawsuits were politically charged and that he was cleared internally.
