• Nakwema Trailway secures $2 million federal funding commitment for Elk Rapids expansion (9and10news.com) — Elk Rapids is set to gain a new 1.6-mile non-motorized trail, thanks to a $2 million conditional funding commitment from the Michigan Department of Transportation. Running between South Bayshore Drive/US-31 and Townline Road in Elk Rapids Township, the Nakwema Trailway segment will improve safety, boost recreation, and strengthen connections to nearby communities like Traverse City and Charlevoix.
