Woofie’s of Farmington Hills is inviting local pets and their people to celebrate its grand opening with a fun, family-friendly community event. Locally owned by Farmington Hills resident and former automotive executive Michele Peterson, <a href="https://www.woofies.com/farmington-hills/" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">Woofie’s of Farmington Hills</a> offers personalized pet sitting, dog walking, and mobile grooming services designed to bring convenient, high-quality care directly to pet owners. 
Michele, son Gabriel, and a team of local pet professionals bring the passion behind Woofie’s pet care since Farmington Hills’ soft launch in late 2025. The location is celebrating its continued growth and community support with an event that brings together local pet lovers.
Guests can tour the Woofie’s mobile pet spa, meet the Woofie’s team—including groomers, pet sitters, and dog walkers—get a complimentary pet photo and dog nail trim (as supplies and time permits), while enjoying treats from a food truck for dogs, and grazing table, with signature mocktail for people. Woofie’s of Farmington Hills will hold its official ribbon cutting at 4:30 p.m.

Thursday, June 11, we welcome Mike McGuinness, Mayor of Pontiac and former Executive Director of the Oakland County Historical Society, to share some history of Oakland County, and reflect on the importance of understanding history as we do the work of compassion, mercy, justice, forgiveness, and grace.&nbsp;
Mike McGuinness is the former Executive Director of the Oakland County Historical Society, and current Mayor of Pontiac. He has also served as President of both the Pontiac City Council and School Board, as well as Executive Director of Berkley Downtown Development Authority, among many other titles and achievements.
Several times a year we offer a speaker series in which we hear from people working The Peace within our community and explore ways that we can live out our call to love God and our neighbors, acting on our values of Compassion, Mercy, Justice, Forgiveness and Grace.&nbsp;
We begin with a light meal at 6:00 pm, and follow with a presentation and Q&amp;A. This free event is open to all and offers a valuable opportunity to engage, learn, and reflect on strengthening communities. Childcare can be provided on request.&nbsp;

Flag Day commemorates the adoption of the United States flag by the Second Continental Congress on June 14, 1777, marking the birth of a symbol that represents our unity, pride, and freedom. For the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks, Flag Day holds special meaning. In 1907, the Grand Lodge of the Elks established June 14 as Flag Day, and by 1911, observance became a required tradition in every Lodge across the country. This long-standing commitment reflects the core values of our Order—patriotism, respect, and service to our nation. In 1949, President Harry S. Truman, a proud Elk, officially recognized June 14 as Flag Day through an Act of Congress, affirming the flag as a symbol of our national unity, pride, and individual freedom. Here at Farmington Elks Lodge #1986, we will continue this proud tradition with a special Flag Day observance on Sunday, June 14. This meaningful ceremony will honor the history of our flag, pay tribute to those who have served our country, and remind us all of the ideals it represents—liberty, justice, and equality for all. We encourage all members to participate, attend the ceremony, and proudly display the American flag at your home or place of business. <h6>July 13-17, 9:00 am - 12:30 pm</h6>

Kids entering 1st through 6th grade in the fall will get to create art, explore life in the garden and learn about God’s amazing creation and how to care for it. Each day will have a theme that will be illustrated by story time, an adventure in the garden, and an art project with a pause for a snack. Weather permitting, all activities will take place outdoors.
