6th-Grader Brings Loaded Gun To Oakland County Middle School: Police
A sixth-grader was arrested Wednesday after police said the student brought a loaded handgun to an Oakland County middle school.
WATERFORD, MI — A sixth-grader was arrested Wednesday after police said the student brought a loaded handgun to Pierce Middle School in Waterford.
The 11-year-old was taken to the Waterford Police Department for processing before officials placed the child at the Oakland County Children’s Village, police said.
School officials were alerted by another student who believed the sixth-grader brought a BB to school, police said. Officials then searched the sixth-grader and their locker, where they found the loaded 9mm handgun at 11 a.m., police said.

The sixth-grader did not threat any other students or staff, police said.
Police were still investigating how the sixth-grader obtained the gun. After police finish their investigation, they will turn their findings over to the Oakland County Prosecutor’s Office.
