Anhydrous Ammonia Leak Forces Evacuation
Someone inside the Farmington Hills Ice Arena heard a loud sound, like an explosion, and summoned emergency crews.

No one was injured Sunday when an ammonia leak forced an emergency evacuation of the Farmington Hills Ice Arena.
Youth team tryouts were under way when the fire alarm sounded, forcing everyone outside of the building on 8 Mile, west of Farmington Road, the Detroit Free Press reports.
Ammonia, which is used for refrigeration, is dangerous if inhaled.

MLive.com reported that that firefighters attributed the leak to a power surge that triggered a relief vave to vent from the anhydrous ammonia tank. Someone inside the arena heard a loud boom that sounded like an explosion and called 911.There was no explosion, firefighters said.
A church next door to the ice arena was also evacuated, and people in nearby homes were told to remain inside.
