'Awoooooooooooo': Get Your Full Moon Fridays on at Heritage Park

September's full Moon is technically occurs on Sept. 9, but the howling starts early in Farmington Hills.

Have you ever wondered what Heritage Park is like after the sun goes down? Enjoy the autumn night air as you head into Heritage Park after dark at a Full Moon Friday Night Hike. Listen for nocturnal animals, observe the night sky, and heighten your senses along the way!

Full Moon Friday Night Hikes are held the Fridays closest to the full moon with the next hike on Friday, September 5 from 8:30 to 9:30 p.m. The hikes continue throughout the fall on the following nights – October 10 from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. and November 7 from 7 to 8 p.m. The hikes are designed for families and children ages 5 and above. No flashlights are required; games will be played to adjust your eyes to the dark.

Please meet at the Nature Center in Heritage Park; the cost is $3 per person. Pre-register for Full Moon Friday Night Hikes at the Costick Center or online at http://recreg.fhgov.com. You can also pay at the door the night of the program, however, space is limited. In case of inclement weather, the hike will be canceled with refunds.

Arrive early and enjoy a $5 Fall Hayride from 5 to 7 p.m. on October 10. Children of all ages are welcome. It’s a great way to spend some time in the park before a Full Moon Friday Night Hike!
