It's Official - DD-214s are Now Online
It is important that we reach as many veterans as possible to make sure they have copy of their DD-214
It's official - DD-214s are now on-line. According to the Department of Veterans Affairs, The National Cemetery Scheduling Office has the primary responsibility for verifying eligibility for burial in VA national cemeteries.
A determination of eligibility is usually made in response to a request for burial in a VA national cemetery. To schedule a burial, FAX all discharge documentation to 1-866-900-6417 and follow-up with a phone call to 1-800-535-1117.Β
The National Personnel Records Center (NPRC) has provided the followingΒ website for veterans to gain access to their DD-214s:Β http://vetrecs.archives.gov/. This may be particularly helpful when a veteran needs a copy of his DD-214Β for employment purposes. NPRC is working to make it easier for veteransΒ with computers and Internet access to obtain copies of documents from theirΒ military files.

Military veterans and the next of kin of deceased former military membersΒ may now use a new on-line military personnel records system to requestΒ documents.
Other individuals with a need for documents must still complete the StandardΒ Form 180, which can be downloaded from the on-line website. Because theΒ requester will be asked to supply all information essential for NPRC toΒ process the request, delays that normally occur when NPRC has to askΒ veterans for additional information will be minimized.Β
