Crime Report: Allen Park Man Gives Teens a Ride, Vehicle Stolen

A 30-year-old Allen Park man who offered four teens a ride in Northville early Sunday morning had his car stolen when he stopped at a Farmington Hills gas station.
According to a report, the man told police he was leaving his job on Haggerty when four teens asked him for directions. Realizing he was headed the same way, he said, he offered them a ride to their destination. The report indicated the man stopped at a gas station at Haggerty near 10 Mile to pick up beer and accidentally left his keys in the ignition of his 1998 tan Chevrolet Blazer. When he returned, he told police, the vehicle and the teens were gone.
Thefts from vehicles
The owners of two vehicles parked on Jefferson Court told police early Thursday morning that someone took the tires off their vehicles.

Narcotics arrests
- A 27-year-old White Lake woman faces narcotics possession charges, after a vehicle in which she was a passenger was stopped just before 6 p.m. Friday, because she wasn't wearing a seat belt and the driver cut off another vehicle in the area of M-5 and Drake. According to the report, officers found marijuana, a prescription pill, a piece of folded plastic with suspected heroin and hallucinogenic mushrooms when they searched the vehicle. The woman told police she had a medical marijuana card and prescription for the pill, but couldn't produce them. The woman's young son was asleep in the vehicle, and he was left in the custody of the driver, who was ticketed for not carrying a driver's license, having an expired license and a vision obstruction hanging from the rear view mirror. In addition to the drug charges, the woman was ticketed for not wearing a seat belt.
- A 22-year-old Farmington Hills man faces a charge of marijuana possession, after police stopped his vehicle early Saturday morning in the parking lot of a motel on Eight Mile. According to the report, the vehicle was trailing a lot of smoke and had a cracked windshield. Police found a small plastic vial containing marijuana in the driver's pocket. He was taken into custody, posted bond and was released.
- A Redford Township man faces a charge of marijuana possession after police stopped his vehicle at Grand River near Middlebelt late Saturday night for having a broken tail light. According to the report, the man told police he had a small amount of marijuana, and police found a small amount in a pill bottle on the driver's side floorboard. The man was held pending bond.
- Officers called to a report of a suspicious vehicle at School at 3 a.m. Sunday arrested a 22-year-old Southfield man, who now faces a charge of marijuana possession. According to the report, the suspicious vehicle left the parking lot as officers drove up and was stopped on 14 Mile. Officers noticed the odor of marijuana, and a search of the vehicle uncovered a small plastic bag of marijuana and marijuana "blunt" cigars. The man posted bond and was released.
Drunken driving arrests
- A 23-year-old Detroit woman faces a charge of driving under the influence, after officers stopped her vehicle at 2 a.m. Saturday for driving through a red light at 12 Mile and Drake. According to the report, the officer who spoke to the woman noticed a strong odor of intoxicants. A preliminary breath test measured her blood alcohol level at .12, which is more than the .08 legal limit.
- A 39-year-old Farmington Hills woman faces a charge of driving under the influence, after police saw her vehicle speeding and driving erratically on Grand River shortly after midnight on Monday. The report indicated a preliminary breath test showed the woman's blood alcohol level was .24, three times the .08 legal limit.
- Officers responding to the on 12 Mile around 11:30 p.m. on April 11 found a 42-year-old Vassar, MI man asleep in a running vehicle with his foot on the brake. According to the report, a witness said the man had been in the same position, near the parking lot entrance, for 45 minutes. When an officer opened the car door, the driver woke up and began driving toward the building, then realized what he was doing and stopped the vehicle. The report indicated that a preliminary breath test measured his blood alcohol level at .09, which exceeds the .08 legal limit. The man faces a charge of driving while intoxicated; his driving record includes three previous alcohol-related convictions and two for driving with a suspended license, the report indicated.
Vehicle thefts
- A resident on Gainesmill Way called police early Sunday morning, after a black 2006 GMC pick-up with a black topper parked in the home's driveway was stolen. According to the report, the man told police he believed he locked the vehicle when he parked it at around 10:30 p.m. The report indicated there was no broken glass around the vehicle, and the driver had a spare key hidden under the bumper and may have left another key in the center console. About $2,500 worth of tools and a set of golf clubs were in the back of the vehicle, the report indicated.
- A resident on Sprucewood called police just before midnight on April 11, after he watched someone take his father's green 1997 Dodge Stratus from the driveway. According to the report, the man heard a strange noise coming from the driveway. When he went to investigate, he saw one man in a dark SUV or truck speed away, while another man drove the Stratus across a neighbor's lawn and out of the neighborhood.
