DIA Inside|Out Leaves Farmington June 18

Residents have a free admission day at the Detroit Institute of Arts on Sunday.

The Detroit Institute of Arts (DIA) Inside|Out art masterpiece reproductions in downtown Farmington are scheduled to be dismantled June 18, the day following Farmington and Farmington Hills residents' free admission day at the DIA.

The exhibit drew hundreds of people to town over the past three months, with seven replicas interspersed throughout Grand River and Farmington Roads in Farmington and at various locations in Farmington Hills. The Farmington Hills works will be on display until June 19.

“Farmington and the DIA were a wonderful match. It was nice to see the amount of people that came on DIA docent tours, but it was also exciting to see the art being enjoyed by people who just happened by while jogging, walking or riding their bicycles,” said Mary Burck, who assisted the (DDA) with a Fine Arts Friday Night during the art exhibit.

“We witnessed increased foot traffic round the with people stopping to look at the DIA art work and asking questions about our historic building,” said Mason Hal Groat. “We’re thankful the Masonic Hall was one of the sites selected for a DIA Inside|Out art masterpiece reproduction.”

The themed Fine Art Friday Nights included merchant promotions, a scavenger hunt that attracted more than 75 children, an art giveaway and Michigan Plein-Air Painters demonstrating their open air painting skills. Other local artists had their works on display in local businesses.
