Farmington Hills Apartment Shooting Leaves 1 Injured: Police

Police said a group attempted to rob a man inside the Fairmont Park apartments on Friday and ended up shooting him, before fleeing the scene

FARMINGTON HILLS, MI β€” One person was injured in a Friday afternoon shooting at the Fairmont Park apartments in Farmington Hills, police said.

The victim was transported to a local hospital and his condition was unknown as of Monday morning.

Officers said three black males and one black woman approached the man inside the apartments located at 9 Mile and Gill roads at 4:55 p.m. and attempted to rob him. Once the man refused to meet the group's demands, he was then shot, and the four individuals fled the apartments in a silver car, police said.

Police said surveillance showed the car as a 2013 or newer silver Ford Fusion with tinted windows and extensive rear damage. All the suspects were wearing black ski masks, police said.

"This is a guild investigation with detectives avidly tracking down leads and working to identify the suspects," Farmington Hills Police Chief Jeff King said. "Investigators believe this is a targeted incident, firing no evidence of a threat to the general public and patrols have been increased at and around this area."
