Farmington Hills High School Evacuated After Fire
Laser cutter malfunctions during a project at North Farmington High School.

FARMINGTON HILLS, MI – A small fire erupted at North Farmington High School Thursday morning when a laser cutter malfunctioned during a project, school officials said.

The fire was quickly contained, and there were no injuries to students or staff, according to an email distributed to parents and others by Farmington Public Schools.

Students and staff were evacuated from the building, and were not allowed to return until the Farmington Hills Fire Department declared the building safe. Students and staff have returned to the building, and dismissal times were not affected.

In the email, North Farmington Principal Joe Greene commended students and staff or their quick response to the situation.
The Farmington Hills Police Department also responded.
