Farmington Hills Literary Nonprofit Raises Funds for Free Film Festival

Absinthe: New European Writing will host a fundraiser April 15 featuring poet Keith Taylor at Ginger's Cafe.

Poet and writer Keith Taylor, who coordinates the undergraduate program in creative writing at the University of Michigan, will read from his works during an April 15 fundraiser at in Farmington. 

Taylor also directs the Bear River Writer's Conference, is the poetry editor for Michigan Quarterly Review and has published 13 books including collections of poetry and short fiction, edited volumes, and translations.

Hosted by Absinthe: New European Writing, a nonprofit arts organization based in Farmington Hills, the event will also feature live music by guitarist Scott Thompson, wine and cheese, sweet treats and coffee.

Absinthe promotes and provides access to international art and writing. The organization is raising funds to support the Absinthe Festival of International Film and Writing, slated June 1 and 2. 

The festival will feature writer Bogdan Suceava, translator Sean Cotter, and feature films The Hedgehog (based on the bestselling novel The Elegance of the Hedgehog by Muriel Barbery) and Farewell, a cold-war thriller. All events at the festival will be free and open to the public.
