Farmington Hills Mini-Bike Rider, 39, Dies in Crash

Stanley Smith, 39, was pronounced dead at Beaumont Hospital – Farmington Hills after Saturday evening crash.

FARMINGTON HILLS, MI – Police are seeking witnesses to a fatal crash between a vehicle and motorized bicycle that claimed the life of a 39-year-old Farmington Hills man Saturday evening.

Police said Stanley Smith was riding his motorized bicycle on westbound Eight Mile Road, near Tuck Road, about 9:30 p.m. Saturday when he ran into the side of vehicle that was attempting to turn from eastbound Eight Mile to northbound Tuck Road.

Smith’s mini-bike wasn’t equipped with lights, and he wasn’t wearing a helmet, police said. He was pronounced dead at Beaumont Hospital – Farmington Hills.

The driver of the vehicle, a 37-year-old Farmington Hills woman, wasn’t injured. Police didn’t release her name.

The accident remains under investigation by the Farmington Hills Police Department’s Traffic Safety Section. Anyone who may have witnessed the crash is asked to call the Farmington Hills Police Department Traffic Safety Section at (248) 871-2630.
