Farmington Hills Pizzeria Makes Best Pizza in Michigan: Food Network

Tomatoes Apizza gets a huge national shout-out from Food Network Magazine for its Naples Sampler.

FARMINGTON HILLS, MI – The editors at Food Network Magazine know a thing or two about pizza.

And if you’re looking for pizza in Michigan, go to Tomatoes Apizza in Farmington Hills and order the Naples Sampler, which the Food Network Magazine editors said is the best pizza in Michigan.

Proprietor Michael Weinstein’s thin-crust pizza is oblong, a deviation from Detroit’s trademark square, thick-crust, deep-dish pies, but its deliciousness is in its difference, the editors said.

“But even Midwestern deep-dish purists have embraced Weinstein’s East Coast pies,” Food Network wrote, recommending the Naples Sampler, a thin-crust pie with classic red sauce that is loaded with garlic, mozzarella and spinach.

Tomatoes Apizza, which has Farmington Hills locations at 29275 West 14 Mile Road and 24369 Halsted Road, was cited in 2009 by GQ Magazine for having one of the 25 best pizzas in the country baked in a coal-fired oven “big enough to barbecue a cow.”
