Farmington Hills Youth Choir Auditions Slated
Aspiring singers in grades 6-12 are invited to try out Jan. 10 for the city ensemble.

Children and youth in grades 6-12 are invited to audition for the Farmington Hills Youth Choir on Tuesday, Jan. 10 at the Visitors Center on Farmington Road between 10 and 11 Mile Roads.
Aspiring singers looking for an opportunity to make new friends and expand their knowledge of music are welcome to try out. The Youth Choir offers students with all levels of experience, from beginners to advanced, an opportunity to perform a wide variety of choral music.
Appointments for auditions held between 5 and 6 p.m. can be made by calling the at 248-473-1859; open auditions will be held between 6 p.m. and 7 p.m., with no appointment needed.

The Youth Choir is led by director Brian Christian, who holds a master’s degree in music from the University of Michigan and is a vocal instructor in the .
“You can almost hear the camaraderie explode,” said Christian. “It’s a great way to meet new friends and be with old friends.”

In addition to performing its own public concerts, the Youth Choir has opened for the Michigan Opera Theatre Ensemble at the , performed at the State Capitol, sings annually at the , and has shared the stage for selected numbers with the Farmington Community Chorus.
