Harrison Wrestler Finishes 2nd in State Finals

Michael Volyanyuk was among three Hawks participating in the competition; Farmington High's Immanual Govantes finished 7th in his class.

Harrison High School had three state qualifiers and Farmington High had one participating at the Michigan High School Athletic Association (MHSAA) individual state finals held at the Palace of Auburn Hills Thursday through Saturday. 

  • Harrison qualifiers
    Michael Volyanyuk, at 103 lbs., placed second at the Palace and finished his freshman season 45-8. Volyanyuk was one of six freshman that qualified for the Division 1 state finals. Bobby Matthieson had a tough day of competition at 140 lbs., and finished his senior year at 39-15. LaRone Mack also had a rough day at the Palace and finished his senior season at an impressive 42-10.  
  • Farmington qualifier
    Immanual Govantes finished in seventh place at 125 lbs. He finished his senior year of wrestling with a very impressive 49-7.
