I-696 Traffic Backs Up in 5-Vehicle Pileup; Find Alternative Route
Traffic will be rerouted to Orchard Lake Road through the rush hour, state police said.

Metro Detroit, MI —Traffic will be rerouted from westbound Interstate 696 in Farmington Hills over the next several hours because of a five-car crash and motorists should avoid the area on their evening commute if possible, the Michigan State Police said.
Michigan State Police spokesman 1st Lt. Michael Shaw told the Detroit Free Press that multiple people have been injured, including one seriously,in the crash at I-696 and Drake Road 1:30 p.m.
Traffic is being routed off the highway at Orchard Lake Road, and investigators are on the scene now to reconstruct the accident.

In tweets, police asked motorists to find an alternative route to avoid traffic.
