ICE Leases Office Space In Oakland County
Officials said the leased space is intended for administrative and legal operations only.
SOUTHFIELD, MI — U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement will rent out office space in Oakland County.
The lease is for a spot at the Oakland Towne Square, which is located near the Lodge Freeway and Interstate 696 in Southfield, city officials said late Wednesday.
Federal officials told the city the leased space is intended for administrative and legal operations only, and that ICE enforcement officers will not be operating out of this location.

No additional details about what fedeal officials will be doing at the location was shared.
City officials said the Oakland Towne Square is privately owned and that it is properly zoned for general office use. They added the city cannot approve or deny who rents out the space because its privately owned and falls within existing zoning rules.

"The City recognizes that residents may have questions regarding this development," city officials said in a statement. "The City of Southfield remains committed to transparency, factual communication, and ensuring the community understands the scope of municipal authority in matters involving private commercial property."
