Kids Invited to Create Modern Family Portrait
The free activity on June 18 is held in conjunction with the DIA Inside|Out program.

The DIA and the invite children ages 10 to 12 to create a special family project at the located at 32737 12 Mile on Monday, June 18 at 7 p.m., in conjunction with the Detroit Institute of Arts Inside|Out program.
One of the DIA reproductions included in the program is located on the outside wall of the library. This copy of the beautiful “Wilkinson Family,” painted by Francis Wheatley around 1776, portrays a wealthy middle-class English family enjoying a family gathering outside.
Students will view the work and then create their own “family portrait,” but in modern style. The project will entail making “magic folding cubes” that will include photos of their families.
