Los Tres Amigos Owner 'Pushing Hard' to Open This Month

The restaurant will offer outdoor seating and authentic Mexican cuisine in downtown Farmington.

Take heart, fans of authentic Mexican food: The owner of Los Tres Amigos hopes to have the downtown Farmington restaurant soon.

"We are pushing hard to open by the end of the month," Arnulfo Ramirez said. "I know people in Farmington are going to like it, because everywhere we go we get a good response."

Los Tres Amigos operates restaurants in Jackson, Lansing, Mason, Michigan Center, Saginaw, Owosso, Canton and Howell. Ramirez said he had been looking a long time for a Farmington location, before entering into an agreement with the Farmington Downtown Development Authority (DDA) to lease the former Dimitri's restaurant at the corner of Grand River and Warner.

From the decor to the menu, he said, everything about Los Tres Amigos is authentic. "I like people to feel like they are in Mexico," Ramirez said.

Improvements include a completely new kitchen and outdoor seating with 16 tables. Though the restaurant serves alcohol, Ramirez said, Los Tres Amigos offers an atmosphere that appeals to families. Menu specialties include chimichangas, carnitas and fajitas.

Ramirez said he is grateful to the community for the warm welcome Los Tres Amigos has already received.

"We are working on the grand opening right now," he said. "The party's going to be big."
