Lotus Bank helps sponsor sports broadcasters scholarship award program

Local bank is proud to support future sports journalists and the DSBA.

NOVI, Mich., – Oct. 1, 2014 – Lotus Bank (www.lotusbank.com), a state-chartered, full-service commercial bank based in Novi, is proud to help sponsor the Detroit Sports Broadcasters Association grants and scholarships program. The DSBA announced that it will award nearly $19,000 to area students, high schools and colleges as part of its 2014 grant fund and scholarship awards program.

“We are proud to be one of the sponsors of this program by the Detroit Sports Broadcasters Association, which has a tradition of supporting young people who are pursuing careers in sports and news broadcasting,” said Neal Searle, President & CEO, Lotus Bank.

DSBA Grants will be distributed to students and programs at nine Michigan high schools, from the Detroit metro area to the Upper Peninsula. Additionally, the association is awarding four scholarships to Specs Howard School of Media Arts students who will be recognized at the DSBA Annual Detroit Red Wings luncheon on Oct. 7, 2014.

Funding for the Detroit Sports Broadcasters Association educational program is also made possible through sponsorship from Farm Bureau Insurance, as well as through the DSBA Charity Golf Outing and donations from individual contributors. The DSBA is a registered 501 (c ) (3) nonprofit organization.
