Man Arrested In Deadly Oakland County Shooting Released: Police

SOUTHFIELD, MI — Southfield Police have released a man who was arrested in connection with a Friday shooting that killed one and injured two.

The shooting happened at 11:25 p.m. last Friday outside a TGI Friday's restaurant on Evergreen Road in Southfield, according to police.

Officers arrived at the location and found three people suffering from gunshot wounds, according to police.

A 58-year-old Inkster woman was taken to a nearby hospital where she died, according to police.

Two others, a 54-year-old Detroit man and a 42-year-old Georgia woman, were taken to nearby hospitals for treatment, according to police.

A 35-year-old Southfield man was arrested in connection with the shooting, but police released him as charges were pending from the prosecutor's office.

Police said they cannot continue to hold the suspect solely while awaiting that prosecutorial determination.

Investigators believe the shooting was sparked by an argument in the restaurant's parking lot between the Inkster woman and the Detroit man.

They said the man and woman each pulled out a gun and fired shots at each other. Both of them were valid concealed pistol license holders.
